Wedding Photojournalists London
The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) have just recently announced the results from this years third competition.
Marianne picked up a third place prize with her gorgeous image of Maria & Chris dancing. I had a placing with an image from the same wedding when Maria just a couple of hours before expressed her joy at just getting married. We are really pleased to have had another 2 images placed amongst the thousands of entries, 1 from Philippa & Ian’s wedding and 1 from Louise & Ross’s wedding.
Judges Comments: Light, colour and magnificent beauty! It’s all there in this elegant frame of a couple dancing with the added element of the bride’s face beautifully lit in the mirror reflection. A glamorous photograph that I’m sure they will treasure forever.
Judges Comments: I can’t imagine a moment when a mirror creates a more perfect additive to a moment, revealing the bride’s face as she spins in dance beneath the gaze of a watchful painting. A high compliment among photojournalists was, “I wish I had shot that.” This image meets the “qualifications.”
Judges Comments: The bridal expression is captured magnificently where she proudly shows off her wedding ring. Her veil blowing in the wind makes the photograph cleaner by blocking the face in the middle, focusing on the groom’s expression of joy also. Shallow depth the field gives a soft background.
Category Great Natural Light.
Judges Comments: The hat creates a very graphic image. I love the continuity created by the arches of the four chairs and the juxtaposition of the pattern on the dress against the hat. Nice Job.
Judges Comments: What a fun moment as the mirror creates the illusion of the bride’s arm. It’s a quick “read” that presents itself without fuss or fanfare. It gets to the “punchline” quickly and makes us all smile.
