Helle & Paul’s Wedding at Hillringsberg Herrgård

Helle and Paul were married yesterday, they held their Norwegian wedding in Sweden.
We flew into Oslo the day before and drove over to Sweden, near the border it rained so hard that the windshield wipers couldn’t cope with the rain and we had to stop the car … it was a bit spooky standing still in the thick of a Norwegian forest in the middle of nowhere in the dark – we wondered how the weather would be on the wedding day but on waking we were relieved to see that it was overcast with sunny spells.
It was great to have returned to one of our favourite churches and to have met again the very friendly church warden Rolf Eneroth and Charlotte Hartvig Lund the vicar.
Helle and Paul are a lovely couple and their wedding went perfectly. Their son Francis was a bit mischievous and played around the alter, I captured a shot of him standing on Helle’s wedding dress with her veil over his head …. it is going to be in one of my top ten favourite images taken this year.
Paul was not that nervous during the service but he did say that he was very nervous driving Helle back to the reception in her dad’s 1956 Chevrolet Corvette … a car that he had painstakingly rebuilt himself.
The reception was held at the highly recommended Hillringsbergs Herrgård a beautiful manor house run by Merethe Helgesen and Roy Håkon Eggesvik. Helle and Paul’s wedding was spread over 3 days with their family and friends meeting at the manor house for dinner on Friday and leaving after brunch on Sunday. It must be wonderful to have your own manor house for 3 days where you can be together with your friends and family.
The text on Paul’s pants (Nygift = Just Married) may have been a little premature but no doubt Helle has seen them by now and approves.
Ceremony: Glava Kyrka, Glava, Sweden. | Reception: Hillringsberg Herrgård, Hillringsberg, Glava, Sweden.
