Lizzie & Ben’s Wedding at Fettes College, Edinburgh, Scotland
Lizzie and Ben were married yesterday on a fantastic sunny day in Edinburgh. They had beautiful locations for their wedding with the service held in the Chapel of the magnificent imposing Fettes College building – built in 1870 and designed by architect David Bryce using a mixture of Scottish Baronial and French Chateau.
The service led by Revd David Campbell went very well. Lizzie made a wonderful entrance and from my view point high up in the gallery I could see Ben’s beaming smile as Lizzie walked up the aisle towards him. I thought that the singing was very good and it felt like that the whole congregation took part together with the choir.
The reception was held in a marquis in the gardens of Belgrave Crescent opposite Lizzie’s parents house. The gardens looked wonderful and the grass was as well kept as the greens at St Andrews. The floral decorations looked fantastic as did the wedding cake made by Lizzie’s sister.
Ben’s brothers best men speeches were excellent and they had everyone laughing …. one of the Telegrams to the bridal couple that they read out was so saucy that a few probably choked on their whisky … it was great fun.
Later in the evening there was Scottish country dancing. I have never seen the Reels danced before and it was amazing to see, most of the guests were dancing which created a fantastic party atmosphere and everyone had a great time.
Lizzie and Ben both love their sports. Lizzie was part of the Great Britain Olympic Rowing Team in Athens 2004, now days she and Ben enjoy Triathlons and Iron Man events.
After a couple of days relaxing in Paris they will then be taking part in a cycle race held just before the Tour de France on the famed 167 km tough mountain stage up the dreaded ‘bald mountain’, the Mont Ventoux.
