Wedding Photography 10-11 Carlton House Terrace | Steph & Tom’s Wedding
One of Tom’s best men was a woman, Tom drove to the ceremony in a Batmobile, Steph entered the room in a vintage dress to the music of ‘Breathe’ from Pink Floyd’s album The Dark Side of the Moon – Steph & Tom had a great wedding.
When I met up with Tom, his best woman Ruth and one of the best men Nigel were just finishing getting ready – the small room in the loft of the Reform Club on the Pall Mall was very hot and everyone was happy to leave. Tom was in a hurry as he wanted to check on his Batmobile that was being prepared. The Batmobile was a replica of the one used by Michael Keaton in the 1989 film ‘Batman’ it was amazing and came complete with side mounted machine guns and with a fully operational flame thrower .. always handy to have.
To the surprise of his family and friends Tom made quite an entrance when he drove up to the Carlton House Terrace in his Batmobile – when I asked him why a Batmobile? he replied “Batman is something I’ve been hooked on since I saw Tim Burton’s batman aged about 12”.
Steph also got ready at the Reform Club together with her bridesmaids Amanda, Helen, Helena, Olivia and chief bridesmaid Nat (Steph’s sister). “All went well” said Marianne “the room was very hot though”. I thought Marianne took a fantastic series of images of Steph’s dad Steve as he came to collect Steph. A proud father.
The service went very well. The first to enter the room were the elegant looking mums Gill & Clare followed by the bridesmaids. Tom beamed broadly when looking back over his shoulder he saw Steph enter the room. The service began.
10-11 Carlton House Terrace is a wonderful wedding venue and it also houses The British Academy, it lies in St James’s in-between the Pall Mall and The Mall. Opposite the house they have a lovely garden and that was where Steph & Tom held their reception drinks. We walked the short walk to St James’s Park by The Mall to take their portraits, on the way back they stopped off for Ice Creams and the ever cheerful van owner recognised them from when we had our pre-wedding meeting.
The weather was perfect, nice and warm with a slight overcast cloud, rain was forecasted for later in the afternoon and it did arrive but by then they were indoors enjoying their wedding breakfast.
