Slaugham Place Wedding Photography | Claire & Nico’s Wedding
Nico got ready with his brother & best man Seb and ushers Ben, Matt. Harvie, Bradley & Claire’s brother Samuel – it was chaotic but fun. Unknown to them Claire had changed some trousers around on the hangers so they got the wrong sizes – it was fun to watch one of the ushers trying to get into a pair of trousers 2 sizes to small, he couldn’t understand why.
If your surname is Ferrari then there is only one car to get you to the church on time and that is what Nico did in a Ferrari California borrowed from a friend. Later in the evening people were taking selfies in the Ferrari and test sitting behind the wheel including Claire’s Grandma.
Claire got ready at her mum Rosalind’s house that lies just a couple of hundred meters from the church and they were able to see their guests arriving from an upstairs window. The Church of St Nicholas is is the 4th oldest church in the country and has been a place of worship for well over 1000 years.
“Claire’s getting ready went very well” said Marianne and she had really nice time with her sister & maid of honour Sarah and bridesmaids Victoria & Alice. On a wedding day the bride is always the centre of attention but Claire was happy to share it with the adorable new addition to the family, her sister Sarah’s gorgeous Hungarian Vizsla puppy called Burgess.
We have photographed hundreds of weddings all around the UK and have never received such a warm welcome than we did from the Rev’d Steve Burston “Go where you like, do what you want and enjoy yourselves” he said to me – music to my ears … talking of which the choir in the church was very good and the organist was wearing a bright red jacket and was barefoot which I thought was kinda cool. Steve led a very good service and in no time at all Claire & Nico were walking back down the aisle as man and wife.
Their family & friends lined the lane outside the church and they threw confetti over them as they walked to the Ferrari, they then drove off to the reception at Slaugham Place.
Slaugham Place was once an Elizabethan manor house, only the four hundred year old Grade II listed ruins remain today including the moat. It is a wonderful wedding venue and the perfect place to have a marquee reception. Claire & Nico had been planning their wedding for a long time and they had done so brilliantly. In the evening outside the marquee they had created a cosy corner with a cocktail bar with 3 bar tenders shaking and mixing drinks in a 70’s Volkswagen bus from Greece called Gina – opposite them was a 70’s Citroen van serving late night wood fired oven baked Pizza’s, that were delicious.
The best of all was the 12 piece band called Salut “Your going to love them” Claire said a few days before – we did, they were brilliant. The music was fantastic and they got everybody on the floor, the dancing was ambitious & energetic and the sweat on the hot Summers night was flowing. Really, really good. This was quite simply a fantastic wedding.
